Show #3 is in the can and attached to this post. Much better than last week (no shivering this
week), but still not where I want it. Nonetheless, I got the final bit
of infrastructure together which will let me fill in the last bit of
programming that I wanted to mess with.

Hey Ross. I tried the moblogging features of blogware with MP3 attachments in some stuff I was testing in conjunction with what Adam Curry was looking for with PodCast audio comments. Does blogware not like .mp3 attachements?? I suspect it only works with image attachments but if I'm wrong perhaps we can debug why it wasn't working for me.

Hmm...
If I understand you correctly, there shouldn't be an issue with attaching an MP3 to a post as an enclosure - just use the "attachments" feature like I did to post each of the Robot Radio syndicasts. As far as attaching anything to a comment, well, "ya just can't get there from here..." ;) Does that help? Re: Robot Radio, Show #3: When robots attack

Sorry, I didn't explain properly.
I was trying to moblog the .mp3 attachment (ie. email into an email I setup to post to a category). The post comes in but no attachment at all. I suspect this was setup to work with images only. I should have tested with an image and probably read the documentation first before posting here but I didn't :( Re: Re: Robot Radio, Show #3: When robots attack

Correct - we're not parsing moblog posts for .mp3 attachments currently.
Should we change this behavior? Re: Re: Re: Robot Radio, Show #3: When robots attack

Ah, most definitely :)

heh...I mean - doesn't it make more sense to simply FTP the file up and then attach it rather than try to rely on the whims of a POP server which has nothing even remotely close to QOS guarantees? It just strikes me that allowing you to email a 50mb audioblog/podcast thing to the server is just an invitation for us to deal with it really badly and give you a shite user experience...

I suppose it would not make too much sense to be emailing 50mb file attachments although I wasn't thinking of doing that initially (at least not for audioblogs/podcasts per say but audio comments).
The way this came about was the following: I was listening to Adam Curry's Source Code podcast and happened to be working on my Asterisk PBX when he mentioned it would be great to be able to receive audio blog comments in response to a podcast along with some reference to Chris Pirillo and systems that send voice mail by email. A lightbulb went off as that is exactly what I was configuring with my voice mail system at that very second. And I thought, holy cow, BlogWare just happens to be able to do this already (not necessarily to attach it as a comment but close enough). So within 2 minutes I setup a mailbox to forward all voicemail to a moblog address to just test proof of concept. Of course, the post got there but not the .mp3 attachment. So I was a bit bummed out. I can probably get Asterisk to ftp the voicemail, attach it to a post or even make it a comment etc. but that would require a little more than 2 minutes (maybe 15 :). I was just hoping to do it out of the box. Trackbacks
