ZDNet: "Redmond
doesn't appear to be in a position to dive in for the kill. But, the
company's TiVo announcement at CES changed that in a heartbeat. A joint
press release issued by Microsoft, TiVo, and, ironically, Adam Curry's
former employer MTV makes clear that it's only a matter of time before
Microsoft's Mobile Windows Media Player is married to the sort of
storage that puts it at the forefront of targets for time-shifted
multimedia-casts."
After reading this I am left without any doubts that Windows Media Player 11 must include a fully integrated OPML directory browser and and RSS parser - i.e. a built in Podcatcher.
Doing so would substantially change the rules of the game for content
producers, create critical mass behind RSS and RSS enclosures, and most
importantly - entirely change the rules of the game for Steve Jobs and
his darling little iPod.
After all - what are Windows users going to use to get their content on
their iPods? Do we have any reason to believe that audio content
producers are going to be less receptive to RSS than textual content
producers?
C'mon Bill, drive this bus.

You won't find Microsoft being that clue'd in I'm sure. Even if they somehow go somewhere in that direction they'll require that you have MS Media Edition PC or some such ridiculous requirement.
Look at this and you'll be floored at the direction these guys are taking!!! Re: Re: Windows Media Player 11: A Trojan Horse?
